Church Covenant
1. Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior, and on the confession and profession of our faith having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, the angels, this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.
2. We agree, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this Church in knowledge, holiness and comfort.
3. We agree to promote the Church’s prosperity, spirituality, to sustain its worship, ordinances discipline and doctrines. Additionally, we agree to the following:
a) To contribute cheerfully and regularly through our tithes, offerings and talents to the support of the ministry, the expense of the Church, the relief of the poor and the spread of the gospel to all nations.
b) To maintain family and personal devotions. Educate our children according to scriptural principles and seek salvation of our kindred and acquaintances.
c) To walk circumspectly in the world, to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements and exemplary in our deportment.
d) To avoid all tattling, backbiting, gossip and excessive anger.
e) To maintain our mind and body as the temple of the Holy Spirit, to use our influence to prevent the sale, distribution and use of harmful substances and literature that would hinder the work of the Holy Spirit.
f) To watch over one another in brotherly love and promote the sanctity of human life.
g) To remember each other in prayer and aid each other in sickness and distress, and to cultivate Christian sympathy and courtesy in feeling and speech.
h) To be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and always mindful of the guidance of our Savior to secure it without delay.
4. We moreover agree that when we move from this place, we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
